Lake Guntersville State Park will host its popular Eagle Awareness Weekends starting in January 2022 and going through February 2022. The events will feature live bird demonstrations, programs delivered by notable speakers, and guided field trips to look for eagles in their natural habitat. This year, four Eagle Awareness Weekends will be available in early 2022 – Jan. 21-23; Jan. 28-30; Feb. 4-6; and Feb. 11-13. Plan your visit.

    Alabama is a state in the Southeastern region of the United States, bordered by Tennessee to the north; Georgia to the east; Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south; and Mississippi to the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

    The Department’s scope of operations includes the administration, management and maintenance of 21 state parks, 23 public fishing lakes, three freshwater hatcheries, one aquatic biodiversity center, 162 public boat ramps, 30 wildlife management areas, six special opportunity areas, 12 shooting ranges, a saltwater mariculture center, 645,000 acres of trust lands managed for the benefit of several state agencies, and the state’s General Fund and the Alabama Trust Fund. Other departmental functions include maintenance of a State Land Resource Information Center and administration of the Forever Wild Land Trust program. Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Alabama is home to more than 948,000 hunters and anglers who spend $1.9 billion annually and support 37,476 jobs.
