About
Louisiana is a state in the Southeastern region of the United States, bordered by Arkansas to the north; Mississippi to the east; the Gulf of Mexico to the south; and Texas to the west. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting Louisiana’s abundant natural resources. LDWF maintains more than 1.6 million acres of Louisiana’s land and waterways as wildlife management areas, refuges, and conservation areas. LDWF manages these areas not only to conserve the state’s wildlife and fisheries resources and their habitat but also to provide the public with an array of outdoor recreational opportunities, from hunting, including lottery hunts, and fishing to canoeing, hiking, ATV riding, and birding.
Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Louisiana is home to more than 904,000 hunters and anglers who spend $1.67 billion annually and support 23,345 jobs.
