Hawaii is an island state of the United States, found in the Pacific Ocean. The state’s natural resources are managed by the Department of Land and Natural Resources, headed by an executive Board of Land and Natural Resources. The department is responsible for managing, administering, and exercising control over public lands, water resources, ocean waters, navigable streams, and coastal areas. The department’s jurisdiction encompasses nearly 1.3 million acres of State lands, beaches, and coastal waters as well as 750 miles of coastline. Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Hawaii has more than 158,000 hunters and anglers who spend $293 million annually and support 3,781 jobs.
