Illinois is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States, bordered by Wisconsin to the north; Indiana to the east; Kentucky to the south; and Iowa and Missouri to the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by Illinois Department of Natural Resources, with the mission to manage, conserve and protect Illinois’ natural, recreational and cultural resources across the 329 state-owned and leased state parks, fish and wildlife areas, state forests, state trails, natural areas and recreational sites. The Division of Wildlife Resources focuses on the restoration, management and protection of wildlife populations and their habitats, in accordance with the American Model of Wildlife Conservation. Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Illinois has more than 1.31 million hunters and anglers who spend $2.34 billion annually and support 31,597 jobs.
