About

Rivers in the Forks area provide the opportunity to catch trophy class winter Steelhead, fish in excess of 30lbs cruise our rivers each winter. The Olympic Peninsula in Washington State is one of the few areas that still has healthy runs of Wild Steelhead. We also have good runs of Spring Kings, Summer Steelhead, Summer and Fall Kings, Coho, Sockeye, Bull Trout and Cutthroat Trout. Fresh fish enter our rivers every month of the year providing fishing opportunities year-round.

The Sol Duc River, Calawah River, Bogachiel River and Hoh River are all synonymous with world-class Steelhead fishing. These rivers provide a challenge for even experienced fishermen, yet can still be enjoyed by the novice angler. Our rivers accommodate a wide variety of fishing techniques: you will find classic runs to swing a fly with a Spey rod, ideal hotshot water, boulder-filled runs to float fish, in other words if you are looking for a specific type of water you will find it here.

About the Guide

I started fishing our local Forks area rivers in 1982, immediately fell in love with them and became a Forks fishing guide. Over the years I've fished for Steelhead in many other areas: British Columbia, Oregon and California, which I have also enjoyed. The Olympic Peninsula rivers have always been special for me due to the diversity of the watersheds and fish. Even after all these years I'm still passionate about fishing and step into a run to swing a fly every chance I get. Rivers here hold very large Steelhead and Salmon. It's one of the few areas in the U.S. that still has good numbers of Native Steelhead - fish that weigh over 30lbs! For the experienced fisherman you'll find I have the knowledge, expertise and teaching ability to help you get to that next level. I spend over 200 days per year guiding both conventional gear and fly fisherman on our local rivers which has allowed me to become equally adept at all types of fishing. As a fly fishing guide I've been Spey fishing since 1994 and can help to improve your casting, teach you the techniques that work and get you in the spots that produce fish. If you're looking to improve your float fishing, bobber dogging, side drifting, nymphing or swinging technique for Steelhead, pitching spinners for summer runs or salmon, and twitching jigs for salmon, I can help you become a better angler.
