Big Boy’s Guns, Ammo & Range

Mike and Brigette Blackwell opened their first store in January of 2002. The beginning of Big Boys Guns and Ammo was in May of 2001. At that time, Mike and a friend used their personal collection to start setting up at gun shows around Oklahoma. The first store was 500 square feet and when it opened had roughly 30 firearms in stock. It was located in a strip mall off of South Council in Oklahoma City. Brigette ran the day to day operations alone while Mike was still working another full time job as a manufacturing supervisor. In August of 2004, Big Boys Guns and Ammo had outgrown its current unit and moved to a larger unit in the same strip mall. The new unit was twice the size and allowed Mike and Brigette to expand their inventory. In 2010 we started construction on a new facility just around the corner from our old location on South Council. On November 5, 2010 our doors opened for our new 6,000 square foot retail store. In addition to the store, we also added a classroom for training. In late 2013 we started construction for our shooting range. Delay after delay due to weather continued to push back our opening date. On September 2, 2014 we opened our 27,000 square foot addition to our current building that houses our shooting range . We also added a second classroom that is 1,100 square feet. Big Boys Guns, Ammo & Range is family owned and operated. In addition to owners Mike and Brigette Blackwell, their sons and daughters-in-law all work together. Because we are family owned and operated, we provide a family friendly environment where we treat our customers like family. We have the largest selection of new and used firearms in the state. We also offer many classes like our Women’s First to Firearms, Oklahoma SDA Handgun Class (Concealed/Open Carry), Beyond the SDA, AR-15 classes, and Basic to Advanced Handgun classes. Private lessons are offered for a customized training experience.
