About
Mike will meet you at the marina, where you’ll board his 17’ Carolina Skiff boat, powered by a 90 HP Suzuki engine. This boat accommodates up to 3 guests, so the trips can be more personalized. There are navigational electronics and a variety of top-notch fishing rods on board. These trips will take you after Striper, Spotted Bass, or Crappie. The details of the adventure depend on the season, but there are periods when you can catch all 3 species on the same day. Mike will show you how each technique works, how to rig the tackle, and other tricks to reel in your fish.
About the Capitan
Mike Atherton
Capt. Mike Atherton has been fishing for nearly his entire life. His love of the outdoors and enjoying anything to do with the outdoors led him to the Boy Scouts of America where, in 1999, he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout with a bronze palm. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the US Army and served from 2002 to 2005 as a satellite communications system operator. Upon leaving the service in 2005 he went to work for various companies in the field services and engineering facets of the satellite communications industry.
While he worked in that industry, Capt. Mike never lost his love of fishing and took friends and their guests out on his personal boat where he earned a reputation for putting people on the fish and having an enjoyable time doing it.
In 2018 Capt. Mike decided to finally pursue his lifelong dream of turning his passion for fishing and the outdoors into his profession and he began working on studying for his Captain’s license. In early 2019 Spartan Charters of Georgia LLC was founded, and in May of 2019 he passed his Captain’s exams. Spartan Charters of Georgia LLC opened for business in the Autumn of 2019.
