About

Mississippi s a state in the Southeastern region of the United States, bordered by Tennessee to the north; Alabama to the east; Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico to the south; and Louisiana and Arkansas to the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The department oversees 54 Wildlife Management Area encompassing over 665,000 acres. Approximately 90% of the department’s budget is derived from user-generated funds rather than state tax funds. Primary funding sources include hunting and fishing license sales, permit and registration fees, and federal excise taxes on hunting and fishing equipment.

Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Mississippi is home to more than 782,000 sportsmen who spend $2.2 billion per year and support 33,584 jobs.  For more information on hunting and fishing in Mississippi please visit www.mdwfp.com and for information on traveling to Mississippi visit www.visitmississippi.org.
