About
Massachusetts is a state in the Northeastern region of the United States, bordered by Vermont and New Hampshire to the north; the Atlantic Ocean to the east; Rhode Island and Connecticut to the south; and New York to the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by the Massachusetts’ Department of Fish and Game.
The Department works to preserve the state’s natural resources. We exercise responsibility over the Commonwealth’s marine and freshwater fisheries, wildlife species, plants, and natural communities, as well as the habitats that support them. Division of Fisheries and Wildlife known as MassWildlife, is responsible for the conservation of freshwater fish and wildlife in the Commonwealth, including endangered plants and animals. MassWildlife restores, protects, and manages land for wildlife to thrive and for people to enjoy.
