About

Minnesota is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States, bordered by Canada to the north; Wisconsin to the east; Iowa to the south; and North and South Dakota to the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The mission of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is to work with Minnesotans to conserve and manage the state’s natural resources, to provide outdoor recreation opportunities, and to provide for commercial uses of natural resources in a way that creates a sustainable quality of life.  The Fish and Wildlife Division works to manage, conserve and enhance the state’s wildlife, fishes and the habitats, including 4,500 managed lakes and 16,000 miles of fishable rivers and streams and the 3 million acres encompassed by Minnesota’s 56 state forests.

Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Minnesota is home to 1,649,000 hunters and anglers who spend $3.17 billion and support 47,901 jobs annually.
