    New York a state in the Northeastern region of the United States, bordered by Canada to the north; Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut to the east; Pennsylvania to the south; and Canada the west. The state’s natural resources are managed by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation.

    The mission of the department is to conserve, improve and protect New York’s natural resources and environment. One of DEC’s main responsibilities is to manage and protect New York State’s wild animal and plant populations. To do this, the department conserves crucial habitats and sets regulations and policies that protect plant and animal resources.

    Per the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, New York is home to more than 2.11 million hunters and anglers who spend $4.95 billion annually and support 56,014 jobs.     Information on licenses and seasons can be found at www.dec.ny.gov. Registered users can purchase hunting and/or fishing licenses or permits as well as register a harvest. Seasons are presented for each species including bag and size limits.
